A D O P T I O N

In July of 2011 we started the process of adopting from Ethiopia. The road twisted and turned and took us into unexpected, uncharted territory and ultimately led us to Jude. He’s the happiest baby on the planet. We’re so glad he’s home. I’m just doing a little update here today, but I’ll come back and fill you in on more of the details soon. Meanwhile, here’s a few FAQ’s…

How long does adoption take? Well, a healthy infant from Ethiopia may take about 2 or maybe even 3 years from start to finish. Jude had some developmental delays due to a condition in his brain so he was placed on the ‘Waiting Child List’. We fell in love pretty quick.

How is his health? Much better now. He was basically suffering from ‘failure to thrive’. He’s thriving now! God definitely worked a miracle there. The story is not finished. We may see more delays or issues later, but for now he’s doing amazing.

What agency did you use? America World. I can’t recommend them enough. They are very professional and ethical, but more importantly they took amazing care of my son. Those nannies did healing work with him and he came home ready to take off.

How much does adoption cost? Around $25-30K for one child. It’s more than most people can afford, but rest assured there are lots of ways to fundraise and people will help you. There are grants and blogs and tons of people that will help you make it happen if you want to bring one home.
